Kinfolk Vol. 11

I just found out that I will need to take my finals a little early because my proctor school will be closed the dates I would normally take them. That means that I will need to complete all of the assignments a few weeks earlier, so you can find me with my nose in a book for the next month.

I decided to take some time on this rainy afternoon to curl up with my favorite blanket, Kinfolk, and Trader Joe's chocolate cats.

Settlement Goods

If you are ever in the Houston area, I highly suggest you stop into Settlement Goods. I fell in love with everything all at once, not to mention they had the sweetest girl ever working there.

Next month we will be traveling back to Houston for me to take my final exams, and we are both excited to discover some more gems the city has to offer. Only a little over a month until I graduate! We are currently trying to plan out flights back to Arizona. It will be amazing to see our families. I hope all of them are ready for big hugs!

Fog

Jason took this photo on Sunday morning in Beaumont, TX. It was a long weekend, but I learned a lot. I went to a weekend workshop including Reflexology and Aromatherapy.

I feel so lucky to have such a fun, amazing travel partner. We listened to good music, and tried a few new, local coffee shops along the way.

Lafayette, LA / Carpe Diem

First Day of Spring

I saw an amazing quote this morning: "whatever it is, start it today". I always plan on taking self-portraits, but somehow it always gets put on the back burner. I decided that for the first day of Spring I would turn over a new leaf, and not just be the one behind the lens.

Also, it was a great mail day. I just received my Kinfolk Vol. 11, and I can't wait to read it.

Twenty-Five

So far March has been a very busy month, and April is already right around the corner. Jason and I have both of our birthdays and our anniversary within two weeks of one another. Also, my sister's birthday and finals. Needless to say, I probably will not have as much time to reflect upon the year of being twenty-five. I sifted through some of our photographs, and these were my favorites. We took a lot of adventures, the biggest being our move from Arizona to Louisiana. I can honestly say that we've both grown a lot from this experience, and I'm ready to kick off twenty-six with a bang!

For Cooper

Honestly, there is nothing quite like buying a present for a five-year-old. Sunday afternoon Jason and I went to our nephew's birthday party. Watching them run and play was such a treat. I felt like after we left our spirits were renewed. My birthday is coming up in less than a month. I will be turning twenty-six! Time flies by when you're having fun. I feel like my two main mantras have been: less is more, and be anxious for nothing. And, the newest being: release your inner child.

St. Patrick's Day

Have you ever gotten overly excited to do one too many projects at once? Well, this weekend I got a blast of inspiration at Hobby Lobby and Home Depot. Saturday we picked up some supplies, and got started on one of the two projects. This week we plan to do a little bit each night, and hopefully finish it by sometime next week. Sunday we spent the afternoon with our nephew Cooper for his fifth birthday. I don't know if you have been to a children's birthday party recently, but it was awesome! I love the big energy coming from those little bodies.

National Pi Day

This is a friendly reminder to celebrate the little things. I'm looking forward to spending the weekend watching movies and doing little crafty projects. We have two projects in mind. One involves paint, wood, and a drill. The other involves fabric, bleach, string, and wooden dowels. I can't wait to share the final products with all of you.

Kingdom Plantae

Is it obvious that I'm ready for Spring? Jason and I drove up to Baton Rouge this weekend. We went to a local coffee shop called Magpie, a thrift store called Meta Exchange, and Trader Joe's. To my surprise I saw some ranunculus! I've been wanting some of these cuties for quite some time.

This week is going to be full of studying and spring cleaning. Not the most exciting week ever, but this upcoming weekend we are going back to Houston! I can not wait to explore more of the city and I have a list of cool places for us to check out.

Mardi Gras

We had a great day celebrating our first Mardi Gras in Louisiana! Jason had the day off work, so we spent the day listening to records, making heart-shaped origami, sipping lattes, and trying out our first gif. Also, how good was the last episode of The Walking Dead? I mean, I think I love Daryl Dixon more than ever.

Hello, March

Friday night Jason, Joker, and I drove to Beaumont, Texas so I could take one of my midterms. Bright and early Saturday morning I took my test, and got an A! We celebrated in Houston, which is a city we now love! First stop was at a really cool coffee shop called Black Hole. The three of us sat outside, soaking up the beautiful weather, and planning out the day's adventures. We went to a few local used bookstores, at which I snagged both records and book on Monet. Then we frolicked around IKEA, and picked a few little treasures: the Gryffindor color-themed jumprope, the snazzy black and white pillow, and Jason got me the cute teddy bear.

All in all, we had a great weekend. We listened to The Kooks most of the way. "Seaside" is one of my favorite songs. We will be traveling back to Houston two more times this month, so next time I'll take photos of the city.

Also, yesterday a Kohl's opened up right down the street from us. Almost everything was on sale for the grand opening, so naturally I couldn't resist a dress with pink sailboats on it.

♥ What did you do this weekend? Did you watch the Academy Awards last night?
