Plus, Rhythm

This summer has been amazing. I know there are still a few weeks left until the Autumnal Equinox, but today I have been reflecting on what I have accomplished so far. I have cleaned out our entire apartment, including going through every drawer and looking at every picture. By incorporating Minimalism into my life I spent the summer selling things, and making a good amount of money from it. I have focused on my passions like painting, and also making big plans for our future. I have started to do things I never thought I could do, and be who I never thought I could be. Jason and I are blasting forward, and it feels so good to have so much ahead.

Southdown Trail

Yesterday afternoon the three of us walked along the Southdown Trail, which is about a mile away from our apartment. It was a hot summer day, but well worth the heat. Nature is so good for the soul. We have found a few others to check out soon.

Do you have any trails near your home?

Street Art

Last weekend Jason and I visited Houston, Texas for the day. When we were on our way to Blacksmith Coffee, and we had to pull over so I could capture some street art. I love cities that encourage artists to express themselves creatively. These murals were stunning.

Do you have street art in your city?

Dad

It's my dad's birthday on Sunday, and I wish Jason and I could be in Arizona to celebrate with him. I have always seen my dad as the real Peter Pan. His middle name is Peter, so when I was young I thought that meant after he read me my bedtime story he flew off to Neverland to hang out with the Lost Boys. He has never lost that childlike spirit. Happy birthday dad, I love you!

The Godfather of Soul

"I feel nice, like sugar and spice."

We have been spinning James Brown pretty much all week. One thing is for sure, nothing makes you get up and dance around your living room like putting on a James Brown record.  Last night Jason and I went on a movie date and saw Get On Up, which was about his rise to fame. It was a really good movie.

Have you seen it? Do you listen to James Brown?

Harry Potter

Jason's favorite books are the Harry Potter series. I read Deathly Hallows right before the movie came out, and I always planned to read the rest of them but never got around to it. I finally started Sorcerer's Stone. There is something really special about reading someone's favorite book.

What are you currently reading?

Marriage

I love you | Je t'aime | Jag älskar dig

Honestly, I stop myself from publicly gushing over all the truly amazing things Jason does on a daily basis because I feel like I would be bragging every single day. Today I need express how lucky I am to be married to my best friend. Each day that we are together we learn, grow, and become better as a couple and individually. From little notes left on the fridge, to skimping on sleep because cuddling on the couch is too hard to resist, we are so happy. I don’t know why it feels weird to say. Maybe it is because I know what it is like to want that and not have it, and I don’t want to make anyone feel bad. But today is just one of those days just like Cat Stevens says, “I can’t keep it in…” and it feels so good to say that I married the sweetest and most handsome man in the world. To me, marriage has been the most fun I have ever had, and I believe that has helped me become what is now the best version of myself. I can’t wait for all of the adventures we have ahead, like buying a house or having children. But for now, I could not be happier to be just the three of us.

Haus George

This weekend we watched an amazing documentary called Man on Wire about Philippe Petit. In 1974 he walked on a wire between the Twin Towers in New York. It was really incredible. We took a trip down to New Orleans on Sunday afternoon, and then spent the evening baking and playing ukulele and guitar.

I should mention that when Jason went out for eggs on Saturday morning, he also surprised me with these beautiful pink roses. He's the best.
